Alec Baldwin’s Wild Claim After Hamptons Car Crash Leaves Range Rover Smashed

Alec Baldwin says he’s lucky to be alive after a shocking car crash in the Hamptons.

The 30 Rock actor shared a video on Instagram Monday morning. He described how he and his brother, actor Stephen Baldwin, ended up slamming into a tree. This happened while driving through stormy weather on Long Island. Baldwin said he was behind the wheel of his wife Hilaria’s black Range Rover when the terrifying accident happened.

“A guy cut me off in front of a giant garbage truck. It was enormous, like the size of a whale,” Baldwin told his followers. “To avoid hitting him, I swerved and hit a big, fat tree.”

Chaos On Montauk Highway

The crash took place on Montauk Highway. It is one of the most scenic yet treacherous stretches of road in the Hamptons. This is especially true during a Nor’easter.

Heavy rain and fierce winds pounded New York and New Jersey early Monday, leaving much of Long Island under water. Governor Kathy Hochul had already declared a state of emergency. The storm unleashed major flooding and caused power outages across the region.

Locals said driving conditions were “like a nightmare.” Baldwin apparently found that out firsthand.

“It crushed my car. My wife’s car,” Baldwin said, shaking his head. “I feel bad about that. But I’m fine. My brother’s fine. Everything’s fine.”

TMZ photos showed Baldwin next to the mangled Range Rover. Police officers from the East Hampton Police Department examined the scene. Stephen Baldwin, the father of model Hailey Bieber, appeared calm as he snapped pictures of the wreckage on his phone.

Baldwin Thanks First Responders

Despite the chaos, Baldwin made sure to thank local law enforcement for helping them out quickly.

He said officers arrived within minutes and made sure both brothers were okay. “They were terrific,” he said in his video.

Witnesses said Baldwin seemed shaken but unhurt. Paramedics checked both men at the scene, and neither required hospital treatment.

One of the photos also showed a large garbage truck parked nearby. It was possibly the same one Baldwin mentioned in his video. But according to TMZ, the truck’s owner insisted their driver did nothing wrong.

Hilaria Speaks Out From Los Angeles

Back in Los Angeles, Baldwin’s wife Hilaria took to Instagram to calm fans. Smiling softly into the camera, she told her followers, “Thank you for caring.”

She added that her husband and brother-in-law were both doing well and that she was grateful for everyone’s messages.

The 40-year-old yoga instructor had just been eliminated from ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. Sources said Alec plans to join her in California soon.

“He’s fine, just a little shaken up,” a friend close to the couple told Page Six. “He’ll be out here soon.”

Weekend In The Hamptons

Baldwin had been staying on Long Island for several days before the crash. He attended several film screenings as co-chair of the Hamptons International Film Festival Executive Committee. He even moderated a few panels over the weekend.

“He’s been out there all week,” a source told Page Six. “He attended films, met filmmakers, did the usual Baldwin thing — charming and talkative.”

The actor is known for his fiery temper. He is also recognized for his larger-than-life personality. Yet, he appeared relaxed and in good spirits just a day before the accident.

The Baldwin Brothers

Alec and Stephen Baldwin are part of one of Hollywood’s most famous acting families. Their brothers, Daniel and William, also made careers in film and television.

Stephen, now 58, is best remembered for his role in the 1995 classic The Usual Suspects. He later appeared in comedies like Bio-Dome and The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. Stephen did not reach Alec’s level of fame. However, he remains a steady presence in the entertainment world. He is also a proud father to model Hailey Bieber.

From Struggles To Sobriety

Alec Baldwin, 66, has often spoken about his turbulent past. He’s been sober for nearly forty years after battling alcohol and drug addiction in his younger days.

He married Hilaria Thomas in 2012, and the couple share seven children. He was previously married to actress Kim Basinger, with whom he has one daughter, Ireland Baldwin.

Those close to him say he’s focused on family now more than ever.

“Alec’s had his ups and downs,” said one longtime friend. “But he’s a survivor. He’s got a good heart underneath it all.”

The Shadow Of “Rust”

The Hamptons crash is the latest twist in what has been a turbulent few years for the Hollywood veteran.

In October 2021, tragedy struck on the set of the Western film Rust when a prop gun Baldwin was holding discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

The shocking incident led to a lengthy investigation. It resulted in criminal charges against Baldwin. However, the case was eventually dismissed in 2024. This happened after prosecutors were accused of withholding key evidence.

The new information involved live ammunition. A retired police officer had allegedly brought it to the film set. Prosecutors failed to disclose this.

Baldwin Fights Back In Court

Earlier this year, Baldwin filed a civil lawsuit against several members of the Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office. He accused them of malicious prosecution. They were also accused of violating his civil rights.

In court documents, his legal team claimed the prosecutors tried to “scapegoat Baldwin for the acts and omissions of others.”

The Rust case continues to cast a shadow over Baldwin’s public image. However, he appears determined to move forward personally. He also seems determined to advance professionally.

“It Could Have Been Worse”

For now, Baldwin seems grateful that his latest brush with disaster ended without serious injuries.

“It could have been a lot worse,” he admitted in his Instagram clip. “I’m just glad everyone’s okay.”

Fans flooded his post with supportive comments, urging him to take care and stay off the road during bad weather.

As one follower wrote, “You’ve been through enough, Alec. Glad you’re safe.”
